Japanese driver Takuma Sato is being linked with a move to British American Racing for next season despite a disappointing debut with Jordan this year.
Sato, the reigning British Formula Three champion, is being tipped to move to the Brackley-based squad when team boss David Richards reviews his driver line-up in the summer. The move would see Sato remain powered by a Honda unit as the Japanese engine supplier decides on whether to continue with two Grand Prix teams.
Sato, who already tested for BAR back in the 2000 season, has suffered a series of accidents this year as his flat-out approach has failed to bring any points for Jordan-Honda so far this year.
BAR supremo Richards has already said he is unwilling to pay high wages while the team are uncompetitive and former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve could be the man to make way.
