Alain Prost Considering NASCAR Options

Tuesday November 26th, 2002

Alain Prost Considering NASCAR OptionsFormer World Champion Alain Prost is looking at the possibility of getting involved in NASCAR, the Frenchman said after visiting the Winston Cup season finale race at Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend.

"I quite like the ambience of motorsports in [the United States], so I am looking at a possibility," Prost told Turner Sports. "I cannot say more. But, I am trying to understand it, first.

"There is a huge interest for this series, even for sponsors, in Europe. I am more or less mandated by companies that asked me to see if it is interesting or not."

Prost, whose Formula One team folded a year ago, said his visit to Homestead was his first live NASCAR race, but said he follows the series on TV.

"I watch [NASCAR] very often on TV and I like it. But I had never been to see the cars and the people and it is quite nice," the Frenchman said.
