The Minardi team will celebrate their ninth place in this year's Constructors' Championship by holding the second annual Minardi Day at the Imola circuit on Sunday.
The small Anglo-Italian squad will bring their four two-seater Formula One cars back to action to give some 50 passengers a ride in the team's unique machines. The cars will be driven by Malaysian Alex Yoong, test driver Matteo Bobbi, F3000 driver Giorgio Pantano, and Minardi boss Paul Stoddart.
The cars today underwent a brief shakedown at Ferrari's Fiorano circuit, where World Champion Michael Schumacher was in action with a specially red painted two-seater Minardi in order to give some close friends a ride in a Formula One car. The German driver completed more than 100 laps in the course of the private session.
The Minardi Day will see more than 50 people, including sponsor representatives, VIP guests, and members of the media, enjoy the same experience at Imola. The event will also feature pit-stop simulations and a demonstration run of the Minardi PS01 Formula One car, driven by Russian Sergey Zlobin.
