Hakkinen Joins TV Commentary Team

Wednesday September 4th, 2002

Hakkinen Joins TV Commentary Team Retired two-time World Champion Mika Hakkinen will try his hand at television commentary this month after signing a deal with a digital television network in his native Finland.

The former McLaren star, never known for his love of words, announced his retirement earlier this year and will make the switch from cockpit to microphone for the United States Grand Prix as a one-off trial.

"I believe that as a former Formula One professional I can offer viewers a great deal of small but significant details," said Hakkinen.

The Finn follows in the footsteps of former British rival Damon Hill, the 1996 World Champion, who has supplied expert comments for Sky Digital+ since the start of the year.
