Formula One legend Ayrton Senna will be remembered in a special celebration of his life at the Donington Park circuit next weekend when a statue of the late champion will be officially blessed.
Senna, who was killed during the San Marino Grand Prix at the Imola circuit in 1994, put on one of his most spectacular performances at Donington during the 1993 European Grand Prix, where he astonished his rivals by winning in the wet after lapping almost the entire field.
The Canon Lionel Webber, chaplain for the Vintage Sports Car Club, will commemorate the tenth anniversary of that historic victory in that race by blessing Senna's statue.
"This is a unique opportunity to remember a very special driver and a Grand Prix at Donington that has been voted as one of the best of all time," said circuit owner Tom Wheatcroft.
