Montoya Warned Against Riding

Friday April 25th, 2003

Montoya Warned Against RidingColombian Juan Pablo Montoya has been warned against riding his motorbike by his management company CSS Stellar after former rival Dario Franchitti injured his back in an accident two weeks ago.

Scot Franchitti, who is also managed by CSS Stellar, saw his hopes of success in this year's IRL IndyCar championship shattered when his accident, at his home in Scotland, forced him out of the Indy 500 and three other races.

Montoya, who escaped injury following a heavy crash at Silverstone this week, has been warned against a similar disaster by manager Julian Jakobi.

"We thought it best that Juan did not do any more riding for the moment," said Jakobi.

Montoya, who was schooled in the American racing scene, is currently attempting to push Williams-BMW back towards the top of Formula One after the team dropped behind rivals McLaren-Mercedes in the early races of the year.
