Former Formula One driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen impressed on his German DTM Touring Car debut after finishing his Opel team's end of season testing programme at Vallelunga in Italy.
Frentzen, who was dropped by the Sauber Formula One team at the end of the season and failed to find a drive for next year, has switched to the tin-top series to join former Grand Prix rival Jean Alesi in a field full of stars.
The three-time Grand Prix winner is expecting a tough competition next year but Opel motorsport manager Volker Strycek said: "This test has shown that Heinz-Harald Frentzen is a strong driver within our team for the upcoming season."
Frentzen was delighted by his experience and added: "The DTM car is more fun to drive than I had expected. It almost drives like a sportscar, and the powerful engine provides plenty of torque."
