Bernoldi Poised for World Series Drive

Thursday February 6th, 2003

Bernoldi Poised for World Series DriveFormer Arrows driver Enrique Bernoldi could be set to sign a deal to drive in the Telefonica World Series this year.

Bernoldi, who competed for two seasons with the Arrows team after making his Grand Prix debut in 2001, was left without a drive after the collapse of the Leafield-based squad at the end of last season and he has been looking for a drive since.

The Brazilian was one of the candidates for the remaining Jordan seat, but Briton Ralph Firman landed the drive this week, forcing Bernoldi to look elsewhere.

24-year old Bernoldi is now looking to race in the increasingly popular Telefonica World Series, and he looks set to sign with the Racing Engineering team in the Spanish-based series this year.

"I have offers from Dallara Nissan which I am considering," Bernoldi told Autosport magazine this week.

Former BAR and Jordan driver Ricardo Zonta was crowned champion in the series last year and has returned to Formula One this season with the Toyota team as a test driver. New Minardi driver Justin Wilson also competed in selected races last season.
