The Jaguar team and their Australian driver Mark Webber will join forces with the Milton Keynes Council next week to help launch the 2003 Road Safety Handbook.
26-year old Webber will be joining the Chief Executive of the Milton Keynes Council at Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes at 10.00am on July 15th to launch the handbook.
"By supporting this worthy initiative, we are aiming to encourage a wider cross section of the local society to understand better the importance of road safety - both in and out of the car," said Webber. "The booklet is designed to give everyone, young and old, a better awareness of the dangers that face drivers, pedestrians and other road users.
"As well as being a sport and form of entertainment, Formula One is also about risk management. The risk management factor in our sport helps keep us safe when we are racing and a risk management initiative of this kind for the public is long overdue and most welcome in my local town of Milton Keynes."
The handbook aims to provide a guide to road safety and promotes measures that road users can take to make travelling around the borough safer for all concerned. At least ten thousand copies are being distributed around local schools, libraries, council offices, police stations and other public facilities.
