Eddie Jordan is believed to be tracking Russian Vitaly Petrov and could hand the teenager his Formula One break in 2004, according to Britain's Press Association.
Petrov, 19, competed in the Euro F3000 Cagliari Grand Prix in Sardinia at the weekend after stepping up from the Formula Renault winter series. Jordan are thought to be keeping an eye on the youngster.
"My dream is now to get into Formula One," said Petrov, whose manager is holding talks with Jordan. "It would be fantastic to be the first Russian in F1."
But a Jordan spokeswomen said: "We are looking at a number of drivers."
Jordan have also been linked with Briton Allan McNish and former Sauber drivers Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Nick Heidfeld, while Ralph Firman is also hopeful of landing a new deal.
