Justin Wilson will be given the chance to stake his claim for a seat with Jaguar Racing in 2004 in winter testing in December after having his contract extended by six weeks, according to The Sun newspaper.
Wilson raced for the Milton Keynes-based squad in the final five races of the 2003 season, replacing Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia. Jaguar are currently deciding who to appoint as teammate to Australian Mark Webber next year and 25-year-old Wilson is expected to test throughout December.
"Justin has fitted in well but we have to be convinced he can match the pace of Mark," a source close to the team was quoted as saying by The Sun. "We need two drivers capable of scoring points rather than just Mark."
Wilson scored one point in five races for Jaguar after switching from Minardi, but speculation has been rife that McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz is at the top of Jaguar's wanted list.
