British driver Justin Wilson received the 'Achievement in Sport' award at the 11th Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards, held at the home of Leeds United Football Club on Thursday night.
The award comes in recognition of the Jaguar driver's achievement in motorsport. Wilson, a former F3000 champion, made his Formula One debut last season with the Minardi team, before switching to Jaguar to replace Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia in the final five races of the year.
He scored one point in 16 races.
"I'm very honoured to win the Achievement in Sport award," said Wilson. "I was extremely proud to be nominated and I'm grateful to everyone who voted for me. The ceremony was thoroughly enjoyable, Yorkshire was well represented and through the raffle and auction I think the NCH can deem the night to be a great success."
25-year old Wilson is still to secure a contract with Jaguar for next season.
