World Champion Michael Schumacher is now officially an ambassador for the Republic of San Marino, after impressing the nation with his long-standing charity work.
Schumacher, who has won the San Marino Grand Prix four times, was sworn in on Monday at a ceremony at the Palazzo Pubblico in San Marino before heading off to test his Ferrari at Monza on Tuesday.
"I feel honoured and proud," said Schumacher. "This appointment is a further impetus for the work I already do. Unfortunately, it is a fact that many people need our help and our attention, compassion and support is needed."
The five-time World Champion Ferrari driver is a UNESCO ambassador and has recently become a representative for the ICM institute for brain and spinal column defects.
