F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone will go into the record books if for no other reason than to be remembered as the man who sold the most expensive house ever.
Ecclestone sold his house in London's Kensington neighbourhood for £75 million (UKP) - the highest price paid for a house in history. The Guinness Book of Records lists a property sold for £60 million in Hong Kong in 1997, as the most expensive house previously.
Ecclestone had to settle for 'just' £75 million, having put the house on the market last summer with an asking price of £85 million. Ecclestone himself, however, purchased the house less than 3 years ago, for £50 million.
The 12-bedroom mansion was purchased by Indian-born steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. The five-storey mansion is based next door to Kensington Palace in London and boasts a host of luxurious features.
The house has eight lavish suites - all with their own bedroom, bathroom, dressing room and sitting room. There is also a large dining room, complete with crystal chandelier, a ballroom and an oak panelled picture gallery.
Ecclestone himself, along with his wife Slavica and his two daughters, has never lived in the Kensington mansion.
