Coulthard to Sport New Colours in Hungary

Tuesday August 10th, 2004

Coulthard to Sport New Colours in HungaryMcLaren driver David Coulthard will wear a new crash helmet design in practice for this weekend's Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix, the Scot said on Tuesday.

Coulthard, who has always raced wearing a blue and white pattern based on the Scottish flag, will switch to a new design after picking the winner in a competition run by one of his team's sponsors.

"It may not be a big surprise that I went for the one that was a combination of my tartan and the rampant lion which is also a flag of Scotland," said Coulthard. "It combines the key elements with an interesting design."

Coulthard will use the helmet for practice but is expected to revert to his normal colours for qualifying and the race.
