Italian driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has been linked with a testing seat at the Ferrari team for the 2005 season.
According to the Independent newspaper, Ferrari boss Jean Todt has held secret talks with the 23-year old Italian. Liuzzi has been impressive in the F3000 championship this year, having scored a record six wins with the Arden International team.
Liuzzi made his Formula One debut in 2002, when he tested for the Williams team at the Valencia circuit in Spain. The former karting world champion has been closely followed by Todt and by Michael Schumacher, according to the newspaper.
Both Schumacher and teammate Rubens Barrichello have a contract with Ferrari until the end of 2006, but Liuzzi could be offered a testing seat alongside Luca Badoer.
Alternatively, there is a chance he could race with the Sauber team next season replacing Giancarlo Fisichella, who will leave to drive for Renault. Ferrari provide engines to the Swiss squad.
