Jaguar's head of communications Nav Sidhu will not be Jenson Button's new manager, although the pair are planning to work together, Sidhu told Atlas F1.
Paddock rumours suggested Button was set to replace his current manager, John Byfield, after the Contracts Recognition Board ruled yesterday that he could not break out of his contract with BAR for next season.
Sidhu, who met Button when both worked at Williams in 2000, was named as the likely candidate but today he told Atlas F1: "I have a good long standing friendship with Jenson and we intend to work together, but management is not on the agenda."
Byfield's company, Essentially Sport, has been managing Button's career since the beginning of 2002, after the then-Benetten driver parted ways with his former manager, David Robertson.
Button is considered a rising star in the Formula One world, with commercial value especially in England, but pundits believe he is failing to exploit his marketing potential outside the paddock. Sidhu, a successful marketing director for Jaguar, could possibly work with Button on that direction.
