The promoters of the first ever F1 Street Parade in Melbourne have deemed the event a success, claiming 150,000 fans lined the streets to get a glimpse of some of their racing heroes.
Three Formula One cars, two V8 Supercars and Mark Webber were on show, the latter in the back of a BMW rather than driving one, later stating: "It was fantastic to see everyone out there enjoying Formula One so close up, really smelling it and feeling it."
Antonio Pizzonia was given the chance to drive the Williams this time, after Webber had a run across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sunday, and claimed: "My job here is to have fun! It was nice seeing the nature and Melbourne's buildings while driving - it was quite special."
Minardi boss Paul Stoddart took one of his cars, specially decorated with Melbourne logos, out himself before giving driver Christijan Albers a run. Local heroes Marcos Ambrose and Mark Skaife also had a run in their V8 Supercars ahead of their support race this weekend.
