The track was wet in the morning and Williams, the only team here, stayed in the garage. Jacques Villeneuve still managed to do some 15 laps on a dry track in the afternoon with a best time of 1m 19.50s.
The new Jordan-Peugeot drove his first few laps with Ralf Schumacher at the wheel. The German clocked a best-time of 1m 46.08s. Eddie Jordan was very happy about the new car: "It was fantastic to see the car in action. It looks quite stunning. We have great hopes that this is the car which will take the team to the top rungs of the Formula One ladder."
