This weekend's race showed the potential of the Bridgestone tyres. All the teams on Goodyear tyres needed to change them at least two times because of tyre wear, the Bridgestones on the other hand probably could have lasted a whole race, but because of fuel had to stop once.

Third place man Panis said about the Bridgestone tyres:"They were brilliant. They maintained their grip steadily, even when the weight of the car decreased with the consumption of fuel. The wear was even, not like Goodyear, which decreases sharply."

Arrows driver and World Champion Damon Hill was also one of the Bridgestone drivers to go for just one stop. This got him up to fourth but because of his engine lost drive he dropped back to 11th before retiring with a engine on fire.

Arrows team manager John Walton said: "Damon's tyres could definitely have lasted the race, though there was some difficulty maintaining the tyre temperature as the fuel load dropped." Panis said: "I think the tyres could have lasted."

Some Goodyear drivers have stated that their disappointed about the performance of the Goodyear tyres. McLaren boss Ron Dennis said: "It was interesting to see how the cooler weather played into the hands of the Bridgestone runners. It could have been better, but at least we are still leading both championships."
