Jean Alesi is not happy with the way things went during the last Grand Prix. He was well off the pace of his team-mate Johnny Herbert. He wants to get to know the Sauber-Petronas better. The team has granted his request and has scheduled an extra test session for him.
The Benetton team will develop a special braking system for Alexander Wurz. He had a lot of problems with the blocking of the rear tyres during the last Grand Prix. Giancarlo Fisichella did not have this problem.
Craig Pollock of British American Racing has said that the new team, which will enter Formula One in 1999 instead off Tyrrell, will announce their engine deal very soon. The rumour has it that this will be Mercedes, but Mercedes denies this.
Patrick Head, of the Williams team, has criticised the FIA with the way the FIA introduces new technical rules. The new rules leave a lot of space for interpretation. Teams may develop a system that seems to be in agreement with the rules but it could still be banned in a later stage. He wants to start open talks between the teams technical management to deal with the situation.
