Murray Walker has had his first proper taste of F1 speed on Tuesday 23rd June (ignoring his attempts at driving Nika Lauda's McLaren). Murray was chauffered around Silverstone by Martin Brundle in the new McLaren 2-seater and said "Unbelievable! With the belts, McLaren preparation and Martin in front of me, I felt absolutely safe. I can't tell you how privaleged I feel".


Honda set to test F1 car

Honda are said to be on target to test their first F1 car since the 1960's in the coming autumn. The car has built by Dallara but the Italian company are not expected to play any role in testing or Honda's future F1 plans. Names liked with Honda are Champ Car series leader Alex Zanardi and current Japanese sensation Tora Takagi.

With Toyota also looking at entering F1 within the next few years, F1 could be approaching another "Golden Era"?


Irvine to remain at Ferrari?

Jean Todt has said that the chances of Eddie Irvine remaining with the Scuderia for 1999 are fairly strong as Eddie and Michael Schumacher work well together.


Gascoigne joins Jordan

As expected, Mike Gascoigne has left his job as deputy technical director to take up the post of chief designer at Jordan. His primary responsibility will be to improve the 1998 car.
