It was a difficult day for the teams at Silverstone (England). The weather was not very co-operative and the red flag had to be waved a number of times, for example: Alesi blew up his engine and Herbert went off with a broken rear suspension.
Many teams were testing new tyres. Bridgestone have acknowledges that the advantage they had over Goodyear is gone. McLaren was testing a new V10 Mercedes engine. Both drivers topped today's times.
Giancarlo Fisichella was third, but he was not very pleased with the test. He stated that the car still had too much oversteer.
There has been some speculation that Ralf Schumacher will not drive for Jordan next season, but Eddie Jordan has strongly denied this.
Paul Ricard could replace Magny-Cours in two years time. Bernie Ecclestone is trying to buy Paul Ricard and Magny-Cours is unpopular with all the drivers.
