Heinz-Harald Frentzen was the fastest man on the track today and the fastest of the total session with a 1m 23.37s. Mika Hakkinen was second. He saw another Mercedes engine go up in smoke when he was testing the wider front tyres for Hugery. The Ferrari engine of Jorg Muller also blew up.
