Williams team is expected to announce the signing of Ralf Schumacher and CART Champion Alex Zanardi during the Monza Grand Prix weekend.

Zanardi has secured his second title in CART last Sunday, when he finished fourth in Vancouver. The Italian took the opportunity to thank his CART team Ganassi, for the three years he drove there: "I had a team behind me in the past three years that was always behind me. I always had the feeling every time that I went to the track that if they had a choice between millions of drivers, I was still their pick, and that's nice feeling."

Asked about when his move to Williams would be formally announced, Zanardi replied: "It will be up to my employer to decide the strategy of that announcement." Coincidentally enough, Zanardi will be in Italy this weekend, where his wife, Daniela, is expecting the Zanardi's first baby. "Life is smiling on me," summed up Zanardi. "I've got a lot of things falling in place in my life, and it's not just my job."

In the mean time, Zanardi's CART team-mate Jimmy Vasser re-signed with the Ganassi team, thus ending any speculations that he might have moved too to Formula One and joined the BAR team.
