According to 'Bild am Sonntag', a old German Team Zakspeed could be only days away from announcing a comeback onto the Formula 1 stage.
Chief Executive, Peter Zakpwski of Zakspeed and Tom Walkinshaw of TWR have reportedly agreed on a selling price of about 80 million German Marks (about 60 million US$), clearing the way of the return of the German Team after a 9 year absence. According to 'Bild am Sonntag', negations have almost concluded, saying the contracts could be signed early next week. Bernie Ecclestone, commented last week at the McLaren Mercedes victory party on Sunday "The deal is as good as done".
Mika Salo of Finland will remain the number 1 driver of the new team. The 2nd seat will be filled by the Spanish Driver Pedro della Rossa, followed by German Test Driver Marcel Tiemann. Zakspeed will keep the Hart Engine for next season. Speculation is that they will try to get a Mecachrome Engine for 2000.
