FOA president Bernie Ecclestone asked the Portuguese Automobile Federation for a possible return of the Portuguese Grand Prix to the Formula One World Championship calendar. The FOA over may be worried due to the lack of economic and financial stability in Malaysia, something that could determine the cancellation of the Kuala Lumpur race in October. Also, the Argentinean race was dropped and the lack of conditions found on Chinese Zuhai circuit (reserve event) may leave Ecclestone short on venues.

The F1 boss looks to be searching for a new site to hold the 15th Grand Prix of the season, but the Portuguese situation is yet to be resolved: the society that now governs the circuit is willing to carry on with the changes suggested by FIA in that facility, but still has to wait for the government intervention to fully accomplish the global agreement stated with the track owners, the Grao-Para Group.
