Engine supplier, Peugeot, responded today to speculations that they might pull out of their contract with Prost, leaving Formula One altogether to concentrate on their Rally team. Corrado Provera, Peugeot's co-ordinator with Prost, said: "We have a contract Prost until December 31, 2000. In this contract, there is no need for a meeting between the team and us to discuss the situation, but Alain Prost met with us for four hours last Tuesday to start a dialogue. Together, we decided not to make a decision. There is plenty of time to take a deeper look at all possible events. Other meetings will be held, but currently it is business as normal."
