Friday February 25th, 2000 Ferrari ran both its drivers, Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher, on both its tracks in Italy - Mugello and Fiorano. At Mugello, Rubens Barrichello was running the second example of the F1-2000 to be built and worked mainly on setup and aerodynamic tuning. "We have done some significant laps," said Barrichello at the end of the day. "Today we have reached a better understanding of the handling of the second F1-2000. The lap times are good, but there is still room for improvement." Testing was trouble free and ended at 17:30. In total, Barrichello ran 42 laps with a fastest time of 1:24.997. Meanwhile, at Fiorano Michael Schumacher spent virtually the whole day practising race starts. He also ran 20 laps in the F399 with a best time of 1:01.991. Testing ended at 16:30. Barrichello continues testing at Mugello tomorrow. He will be joined in the afternoon by Schumacher at the wheel of the F1-2000, after he has spent the morning driving the F399 at Fiorano.
The Mugello lap record is 1:24.850 (M. Schumacher) |
