Tuesday February 29th, 2000 Jaguar's test driver Luciano Burti was the fastest on the first day of testing at Silverstone today. Weather again hampered all the teams' progress, as well as various technical problems, which prevented Benetton's Alex Wurz and Prost's Nick Heidfeld from running any timed laps. Back in the car was Williams' Jenson Button, who ended the day third fastest, albeit a spin on the slippery track. "Apart from the atrocious weather conditions, today went well," Button commented. "I have never simulated pit-stops before and given how wet it was today, the pit-stop practice was a very valuable learning experience for me."
