Tuesday January 18th, 2000 Deutsche Telekom MobilNet GmbH announced today it will be an associate partner of West McLaren Mercedes. As an associate partner, the distinctive T-D1 logo will appear on the overalls of the current Formula One World Champion Mika Hakkinen and his teammate David Coulthard. In Germany, T-Mobil operates the digital T-D1 mobile communications network, which currently serves some 9.1 million customers. Together with Deutsche Telekom, the parent company, it has stakes in several mobile networks across Europe, positioning it well in this growth market. Since the middle of last year, world champion Mika Hakkinen has been T-Mobil's anchorman in a series of very successful advertising campaigns. Kai-Uwe Ricke, Chairman of the T-Mobil board of directors: "The partnership with the West McLaren Mercedes team is a logical consequence of our successful advertising campaign with Mika Hakkinen.
