Friday January 21st, 2000 Jaguar's Johnny Herbert set the fastest time of today's testing at Barcelona, a few tenths faster than David Coulthard, who only ran a few laps in the morning and then retired for the rest of the day due to illness. Herbert's teammate, Eddie Irvine, had a less fortunate day as his session was over due to a crash, caused by a leaking water pipe. Also testing at Barcelona today was the Benetton team, with Alex Wurz running the B200 and Giancarlo Fisichella the B199. Benetton continue to test there tomorrow, with Williams rejoining to allow Jenson Button and Bruno Junqueira put in more laps before the team decides which of them will replace Alex Zanardi next season.
Today's times:
The 1999 Barcelona lap record is 1:20.540 (R. Barrichello) |
