Friday January 28th, 2000 The South African Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit has had its Grade-1 license renewed. FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting reissued the Kyalami license after a circuit inspection last week. Furthermore, other than some general maintenance Whiting did not ask for any other work to be carried out. "Whiting asked that we do maintenance work on arrestor beds, kerbing and repaint lines where neccessary," said Kyalami's managing director, Piet Swanepoel. "Other than that we were given a clean bill of health. Circuit inspections can develop into expensive items and it was a relief when Whiting reissued our license without specifying any major work." Williams and BAR are scheduled to hold a test session at Kyalami, on February 8th-14th. Kyalami also hopes to host a Grand Prix in 2001.
