McLaren's David Coulthard blamed Jordan driver Jarno Trulli for the first corner accident that ultimately took both men out of the British Grand Prix.
Coulthard and Trulli clashed at the the first bend and the Jordan went straight out after beaching in the gravel. Coulthard retired on lap three as his car had suffered suspension damage after the clash and he was forced into a spin.
"It was a rear suspension failure," Coulthard said. "I think it came from the contact with Jarno Trulli. I spun at the first corner and the whole thing just let go there.
"I was ahead of Jarno and I thought I could hold the front line. Two into one does not go and I was in the lead so I think he should have backed off."
Italian Trulli labelled the incident a racing accident and said he would talk to Briton Coulthard later on Sunday to clear the air. "I gave him as much space as I could have in the inside," he explained. "I tried to get out of the way but there was no where to go. It was an accident. I will have a word with him later to clear the air.
"I had a very good start. I was next to David and I don't know if he saw me. He may have closed the door. I suppose you could say it was a racing accident."
