McLaren's test driver Nick Heidfeld finished top during the continued testing at Jerez on Wednesday, setting a time of 1:25.01, half a second faster than the time teammate David Coulthard had set in the previous day.

Ralf Schumacher was second, just 0.04 of a second off Heidfeld, happy at the performance of the Williams car so far.

Eddie Irvine was third for Ferrari (see Ferrari's test report), while Heinz-Harald Frentzen was fourth in the Jordan. Coulthard was off the pace in 5th place and Williams driver Alex Zanardi in 6th.

Again - McLaren, Williams, Ferrari, Jordan, Sauber and Prost where the present teams.
