The new Jaguar R1 had a troubled first outing today, when the Ford engine expired but two laps after test driver Luciano Burti hit the Silverstone track.

The new car, painted in heavy dark green, features a very low nose as well as a distinctive rear wing. The engine, according to reports, is an evolution spec of last year's Ford Cosworth and is not the final version which will be used this season.

Jaguar will launch their car this month, on January 25th.
